Speaking of Misty, I remember even as a kid being really disappointed that they stopped developing the mysteries around Togepi. Up there with the GS Ball as a plot thread they mostly dropped. Togepi didn’t pay off until AG, a year after Misty left and long after Togetic had debuted in the games.

I would be interested to learn how the decision was made to stretch the Johto saga over three years until the next generation of games, and avoid another “filler arc”. The pacing of gym episodes was very slow, with few character-driven subplots, resulting in too many uninspired filler episodes.

First that comes to mind is Ramsay Bolton from GOT. Bested in battle by the family his family overthrew, then fed to his own dogs by one of his victims. Extremely on the nose and probably neater than George has planned, but very satisfying.

Don’t forget the scene where Brian May invents the revolutionary concept of “clapping to music” while Freddie is offscreen being a hungover traitor.
