the opening ceremony ended with formally hammering in the tops of two sake barrels, and I own a #Grafana kimono now :)

But that is region and age information, not species information, correct?

Agreed. It always filled the biggest rooms to capacity

You're not the first person to ask. Didn't make the cut, sadly. It shows that I am not involved with #FOSDEM devroom selection in the least, at least :p

Yeah, he rode on the coattails of Şevval İlayda Tarhan, te lady who he was teamed up with and who was way better than him.

I'm sure there's no moral to the story of him going viral and her being largely ignored.

If we had edit over here, I'd clean that one up

Not to put too fine point to it: I would appreciate it if you started dual-posting to Mastodon.

Most of your regular readers will have their own hyperfixations. I really truly don't get yours, but that doesn't matter. All good.

We can kinda agree on corn though. For me it's more the underlying societal structure, but those two are very much related.

I have, however, met a riding horse

Even if that were partially true for some locations, it's not at the scale, frequency, amount, or any other measure that matters.

Serious question: can't you just listen to the digital version until the physical restocks?
August 14, 2025 at 2:37 AM
Yeah, they are much, MUCH harder to recover from.

They are more reliable and resilient than HDD -- until they are not.

Good luck, and get all quotes in writing beforehand. This business is half extortion in the best of cases.
August 13, 2025 at 8:35 PM
Above is still applicable, but SSDs are often impossible to recover from once they corrupt. Sorry to not be able to tell you anything better.

And to be clear: many professional shops will simply run ddrescue & foremost (or similar) and charge you through the nose for it.
August 13, 2025 at 8:27 PM
I would not trust them. And they are expensive.

SSD or HDD?

If you find someone who knows what those words mean, get someone to boot Linux. Make a full copy of the drive with ddrescue. Power down, remove drive. Only operate on the copy from now. Use foremost to get all data that is recoverable.
