Panel 3: Varsuuvius: Given our…circumstances…I am not certain I know the appropriate words for me to say in this exact situation. Belkar: Well that’s a plus, at least. Varsuuvius: I suppose it would be. Panel 4: Belkar: Now hand over the antidote. Serini: What, now? Belkar: Right now. Panel 5: Belkar: I don’t want any chance we get separated or blasted into the plane of peanut butter or whatever, and then I can’t turn him back. Serini (produces a small bottle): Ugh, fine. Here. Panel 6: Belkar: In fact, we should tie it around his neck. Anyone have a piece of string? Haley: I think I’m insulted you even asked. White cotton or jute twine? Panel 7: Haley has fixed the antidote to Bloodfeast with jute twine . Haley: There you go! All nice and secure. Panel 8: Belkar: And into the bag of holding. You always like it in there. Roy: As heartfelt an emotional journey as this has been-and I mean that sincerely-I think it’s time for us to get moving. Haley: Right! We’ll just grab the secret dragon treasure and leave! Serini: There is no secret dragon treasure. Haley: It was worth a shot! Panel 9: Minrah: Hey, so….Im not going to ask you how you’re doing so you don’t have to pretend you’re doing fine and bottle up your feelings and stuff, OK? Belkar: Yeah, OK. Panel 10: The Order are outside the chamber and on the walkway. Minrah: But I really think it’s going to be fine. Not now, obviously. At some future point. Now it sucks. Belkar: Yeah. And I just can’t shake the feeling that I’m not going to ever see him change back. Roy (Addressing Mimi, who has transformed into an allosaurus): I like your energy Mimi, but let’s maybe keep that idea in our back pocket for now.

It’s a striking comparison. I bawled.
The Order of the Stick, a D&D-inspired webcomic, page #1313. A group of fantasy characters stand in a large stone chamber, around a huge allosaurus. A friendly floating Beholder uses its powers to turn the dinosaur to stone, as part of a plot to safely extract the dinosaur from this cramped underground chamber. The dinosaur roars and reacts in fear as the petrification starts to take effect, but the halfling ranger, Belkar, calms it. As the magic overtakes it, it whimpers. The final panel of the comic has the massive creature entirely stone, leaning down to Belkar, who has his hands on the tip of its snout, along with his other companion, a white cat, who reaches up to it. Everyone else looks on, somberly.
