Yes. Try it out. Even if it fails, you will learn something and build more skill.

I am looking for transfer units to my home college which doesn’t have such a course in their Electronics program, and the courses they do have on Pi/Arduino are in person only, once per year, and occur during work hours.

Tell me more about your university course. I am looking to take some classes online about Pi/Arduino/ESP32/etc.

Take it with you. They won’t know how to use or maintain it. Something will break and it will fall apart and cause the new homeowners frustration. Then they will have to pay someone to remove it all and put it back to “standard” equipment.

It’s a really wide field. And can go very deep.

The skills needed for secure db development are different from securing a network or building a secure enough OS image or securing emails or physical security.

Each can take years to master, if ever since tactics and tools are ever evolving.

I have seen up to three on the same launch. It was worrying the first time I saw it, but others saw the same thing and that was the answer online from multiple sources.

If you think that is bad, try having your account hacked, then being the entry point for ransomeware in your employer’s system.

When you have your MFA reset, you will be prompted to add it back in to your phone via a QR code in your computer that you scan with your phone.

I will have to check the REST API and see if that offers me any benefits over MQTT, which is how I am leaning this hour.

I am thinking of multiple ESP32 “modules” performing a few actions, but all scripted/managed by HA actions so an input from one ESP can trigger action on a different ESP

Thanks

setup and arrangement of devices and “features” on each.

Great point! Thank you for leading me down this road.

then use MQTT to activate the actions on the specific ESP32s being referenced. The code would just change by one line (MQTT name) vs multiple unique entries in each ESP32 to name each input and output uniquely - if I am understanding both processes correctly.

That would give me more flexibility in

I will try ESPhome and see how far it takes me. But I feel like it may be rather bespoke in that I would have to program each ESP32 with its unique purpose. If I gave ten ESP32’s doing slightly different things, I am thinking it may be more flexible to build a script which covers everything needed,

Buy used EV with worn battery.
Pull battery to use as home powerwall.
Replace EV battery and have a refreshed EV and a powerwall for far less than buying both new.

Lists grunt work occupations where people work on things others have engineered until they are physically unable to.

I want to be the engineer they all work for.

Does anyone else remember that Google Labs once had a “catalogs” search engine?

They subscribed to and scanned and OCR’d dozens of current catalogs in the early 2000’s. You could google search across printed catalogs.

Where is that now?
