Don’t buy stuff that you’re not sure that you absolutely need. Or subscribe. Or replace, if you can locate a better alternative. A cautious openness to new ideas, combined with a thorough and sceptical examination of every claim and promise made tends to work best. That is the scientific approach.

When a party purports to be rational, witnesses harm done to lives and livelihoods for dishonest purposes and yet in government is tardy and unwilling to recognise or remedy the damage done to those lives and livelihoods its moral authority is shot. The facts demand respect.

I read the Labour party’s manifesto for the 2024 UK general election. The EU was not mentioned. A peace project with which the UK shares a frontier, during a major war less than two thousand miles away. And our country has been removed from it. These are the facts.
