Why have all countries not reacted with retaliatory tariffs yet? The UK capitulated and did a bad deal, now they face additional copper tariffs. The only way to deal with a bully is to stand up to them, it's time for countries to unite and impose their own retaliatory tariffs.

"Britain is stuck in it's longest period of economic stagnation since the 1930s".

The Brexit effect, better get used to it.

Strangely lopsided report given that it completely ignores the obvious health benefits from dog walking.

Lol...Zero percent tariffs are not enough for the US then. I guess the EU is meant to lower it's standards and join the race to destroy our health and planet. Stand firm EU, and trade freely with partners genuinely interested in trading relationships that benefit us all.

I'd have preferred to stand united with other nations against the tariffs. That way the US has to back down or suffer badly. Trump's game is classic divide and rule, and we're playing it.

Car tariffs up from 2.5% to 10% (rising to 25%). Tariffs on most goods rise from similar levels to 10%. That's not a trade deal, it's praising your mugger for leaving you something.

Do Reform actually stand for anything, or is negatively all they've got? What tangible things would they actually do?
May 4, 2025 at 7:56 PM
I'm not a United fan by any means, but when people say out of nowhere "it has barely even been mentioned", it reveals just how much it means to them. Go figure...

Ignoring the practicalities of protecting its status, it would make more sense for European nations to step in as they have more experience (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia) with that type of reactor.

Stand united, stand proud and reciprocate proportionately against only the nation driving the increases, and the ultimate loser will be that self-isolated nation.

Fall divided and the only winner will be that nation.
April 2, 2025 at 6:26 AM
The right response is for Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, Europe and the UK et al to reciprocate. If they do "collaborate", or should we say push back together, the ultimate loser will be Trump. If they don't, well there's a chance he'll divide and rule.

We should proceed on the basis of what Brexiteers actually campaigned on. "What is wrong with the Norway option"?
March 26, 2025 at 8:15 AM
Anything to make it harder to question any corruption in the decision making.
March 22, 2025 at 8:47 AM
That ignores the reality that if they do they'll be paying import tariffs on components and materials, and there will likely be tariffs (in response from other countries) on any vehicles they export. All in all, it's highly unlikely those exported cars would be competitive.

What Trump means is. I have little leverage over Putin, and he is quite happy to give me a cut of Ukrainian assets. So I need to withdraw support and watch enough Ukrainians die, to force Ukraine to give up. Funnily enough Zelenskyy isn't keen on that.
March 9, 2025 at 9:50 AM
This is entirely the Trump problem. He doesn't care for anything or anyone. He just sees weakness and opportunity.

Beware allies of America (and also Americans). If your hour of need comes, Trump won't be there for you, he will see the opportunity to take advantage of you.

Have they (not Biden) even done anything morally right for Ukraine?
February 28, 2025 at 11:41 PM
How about it's more important to have an ethical foreign policy?

I miss Robin Cook and his ilk.
February 21, 2025 at 5:32 PM
Truth and morals have left the building. America and Russia are acting as imperial powers sharing out the wealth and resources of "lesser" nations between them. Europe (and its remaining allies) MUST unite for the sake of freedom, justice and the future of the world.

You seriously asked how a UK King's council, practicing UK law is different from a foreign billionaire funding the litigation of extremists?

If there was a magic wand yes.

"...the pharmaceutical companies sell us pills".

Erm...yes. They do and long may they continue to do so.
