Thanks, Thorn! We had a great weekend of adventures given the great weather…not necessarily celebrating my birthday, but celebrating life…which is just as good (if not better, since that can, and should, be celebrated daily). Also had bday dinner at Tamasha last night: amazing!

Since my old 5.1 system was impractical in my current home, and I found a wireless Atmos solution, I took the plunge. 5.1 is still amazing though, which is why I’m not grabbing the Atmos mix of TfTO. Atmos offers an incremental improvement but not a revolution. I’m not replacing all my 5.1 discs…

I splurged on the “Close to the Edge” set because that is my favorite record.

The Atmos mix is indeed incredible. But it’s almost TOO discrete. In “I Get Up, I Get Down” it’s amazing to hear Jon, Chris & Steve in separate speakers, but you lose some of the magic of their voices blended together.

The contents are essentially the same as the limited Kamuret Press edition from 2021. Think of it as a wide release. There’s been minor reshuffling of the prelims, a few typographical tweaks + typos corrected. This one is larger—closer to the 1904 edition—and, of course, it comes with a slipcase.

I just wish they’d sell the Blu Rays separately. $175 is too rich for my blood, given I already have the 5.1 mix from a few years ago. But if they proceed to Relayer, I may need to splurge
