Possibly the only 6 ft 5 in ukulele-playing Yorkshireman living in Winchester. #DoctorWho fan and Something Who & If It's Hurting It's Not Working podcaster.
Thanks to everyone who's been downloading our latest @somethingwho.bsky.social on The Haunting of Villa Diodati after our mini-hiatus this autumn. As you can see it's been outperforming all our recent episodes.

Not exactly setting fire to the Apple Podcasts UK TV Reviews chart, but at least @somethingwho.bsky.social is in it. I particularly like the way this rendering of the chart blurs the number of listeners to make it look like there are thousands.

Here's @themindrobber.bsky.social on @somethingwho.bsky.social podcast Ep115 talking about the extra value he brought to some UNIT scenes in the recent #DoctorWho season finale. More here, plus our chat about the S23 finale from 1986, The Ultimate Foe:

So for a bit of fun I asked the Suno service to create me a couple of 60s style guitar mood pieces to see what it could do. Both surprisingly good, and kind of similar although also completely different. What do you think? Could we change? Should I try to get the rights to the original or rescore?

Spotify recently took down most of our @somethingwho.bsky.social #podcast episodes over copyright infringement of the 3 Guitars Mood 2 piece. Which is fair enough, because I never paid anyone a bean for it, although that is also exactly how much money any of us has ever made from the podcast.

Rather good to see 1960s Doctor Who on the big screen, warts and all. I wondered how easy it would be to sit through 6 episodes in an afternoon, but with Gav and James for company the time seemed to fly. Crazy as the story is, my enjoyment of it and appreciation for it grew a little.

A couple of the episodes even had the BBC Enterprises logo at the end to demonstrate that they were indeed copies made for overseas sales.

Great day out at Riverside Studios watching @themindrobber.bsky.social and @gossjam.bsky.social discuss #DoctorWho Dalek Invasion of Earth along with all six episodes. Really fun and the format worked very well. Even got to meet university friend @djm4.bsky.social for the first time in 35 years.

Here's a bloom that survived the deluge yesterday.

A very rare appearance of my name on the pages of DWM this month, thanks to this photo of @themindrobber.bsky.social and @gossjam.bsky.social. To double the excitement, there's also a fairly indistinct impression of my profile immediately below it (I'm furthest left in the capture below).

S12E11 - Resolution of the Daleks
Emperor Dalek: Here is a list of things that the Daleks will refrain from doing in the Earth year 2021:
- Trusting ruthless human businessmen
- Answering any call sent by the Doctor
- Every single Dalek charging recklessly into a TARDIS that is about to explode.

S12E10 The Times - Less Children
The 2nd Doctor was incensed at the TV critic's views in his favoured newspaper towards Chibnall's new continuity. "This is monstrous," he moaned to Jamie. "Not only does this contain significant spoilers for my future travels, but it's not less children, it's fewer!"

S12E9 - A Scent: Sion of the Cybermen
They didn't like to admit it, but the 5th Doctor's jibes about just how much fun the Cybermen were having cut deep. Hence the launch of their new floral perfume. Next up: gatherings to watch the setting sun and Michelin-starred restaurants on Telos. #DoctorWho

S12E8 - The Hunting of Villa Diodati
Doctor: Look, this dancing is lovely and everything, but can we try a different game? There's about to be a homicidal Cyberman on the loose, and if we can find a decent chunk of gold anywhere on the premises, it could come in really handy. #DoctorWho

S12E7 - Can You Shear Me?
Doctor: Yaz - I've had it on good authority that the hairstyles of previous Doctors always seem to get more bouffant and unkempt as their runs proceed. Well not this one! Take me to the TARDIS hair cutter and quick!"

S12E6 - PR: Axe GUS
After some unfortunate deaths on the space Orient Express, its owners hired a red hot public relations company to reboot its image with an understandably reluctant customer base.
Their first action was to get rid of GUS before it could cause any further embarrassments #DoctorWho

S12E5 - Fugitive of the Judo one
The Doctor thought the cathedral guide was unusually hairy, but it might be rude to mention it.
"I've been in hiding for decades from a monster who fired guns indiscriminately and used martial arts," he said. "So I settled down to a quiet life. No complications."

S12E4 - Nikola Tesla's Nights of Terror
Tesla had the same awful dream, night after night, waking up petrified at the notion of someone associating his good name with their lunatic ideas and actions.
"Might never happen," the Doctor tried to comfort him, adding "probably will" under her breath.

S12E3 - Orphan, 56
William Hartnell thought about the new companion Vicki and smiled fondly. She had no parents to rely on, but was getting on with life anyway and doing all right. Much as he had himself, in a similar position. They'd be two orphans, making their way through time & space together.

S12E2 - Styfall Part 2
Ryan was less than pleased to be ankle deep in muck with his hand up a pig's backside.
"Great work," enthused the Doctor
"Go on son, you're the Doula!" encouraged Graham.
"Next time someone needs help, maybe refuse, or find someone who knows what they're doing?" suggested Yaz.

S12E1 - Styfall Part 1
The TARDIS had landed in the Yorkshire Dales somewhere in the 1930s and the Doctor was on a mission:
"Look I know we're all dressed up, but that sow's in labour, the farmer's called our number asking for a Mr Farnon and when people need help, I never refuse." #DoctorWho

Many of you were hoping it would die quietly, but expert as I am in the matter of flogging a dead horse, here's the return of my "fun" project of a new title for every #DoctorWho story with one letter changed - one more, one fewer or a swap. Back with Series 12, so it's more fam, less Kerblam.

Properly sunny now. Had to crack out the sun cream in April!

Been buoyed up all week at the prospect of a day off work and a chance to see proper cricket. A few people have joined me; not exactly packed and I am towards the bottom end of the age demographic.
