softball is infinitely more watchable than baseball for me. seems to move faster, you get to see superhuman stuff like the same pitcher go three games in a row, and the players seem to genuinely care about the game. also the mercy rule.

This is pretty typical of business media coverage of games. More people want to talk about games now, but don't know how, so we get flooded with shallow market analysis using the most vanilla terms possible instead of discussing them as creative works or experiences.

Plus this approach allows them to build a business around each console generation that isn’t dependent on the best possible outcome to keep the console afloat, and they can put their money into more 1P games instead of scrambling to fix the balance sheet every quarter.
