William Herbert, Earl of Pembroke (c.1423-1469) is one of the forgotten men of the Wars of the Roses. This remarkable & ambitious man will be the subject of a talk this Saturday via Zoom by Katie Dungate for members of the Richard III Society. Due to cancellations, there are still places available.

There is little mention of the Missing Princes in surviving sources created by their family members. However, Hazel Pierce recently encountered mention of them in a will by their sister Katherine Courtenay. Read more in her article in Vol 35 of The Ricardian – now on its way to Society members.

The Richard III Society offers bursaries to help younger scholars gain academic experience by presenting papers at The Fifteenth Century Conference. One of last year’s bursary recipients was Caitlin Williams who has just completed a PhD at Queen Mary, University of London. 1/2 #Medievalsky

At the official rose laying at Bosworth Battlefield, Amanda, Chair of the Richard III Society, spoke about the king. We were pleased to see the oak tree from an acorn at Fotheringhay, planted in March, was going strong. Richard was born at Fotheringhay. #RichardIII #MedievalSky

The Chair of the Richard III Society, Amanda Geary laid this beautiful wreath at the tomb of Richard III at Leicester Cathedral yesterday. Then she and Sally Henshaw from the Leicestershire branch, as well as a tourist from New Zealand, laid single roses.

The church of St. James, Sutton Cheney saw a special service yesterday marking the new sculpture in the churchyard. Richard's prayer was read by the Leicestershire Branch Chair, Richard Smith. This is part of the new sculpture trail in the area. www.richardiiicountry.com/richard-iii/... #RichardIII

The physician Lewis Caerleon is best known for his role in Buckingham’s 1483 rebellion. Lewis was arrested & spent the rest of Richard III’s reign at the Tower. After Bosworth, Henry VII granted him a pension & in 1491 he became one of the poor knights of St George’s. #Medievalsky 1/2
