The knee saga! (This column I think owes a bit in tone to the great Tony Hancock):

The knee that couldn’t and the surgeon who could
At no point do I ask if they will entirely remove my leg. I decide to leave it to them.

Loved this piece from @peterfitz1.bsky.social and the way he bounces between his own adventure and Bob Dylan. Lovely writing.

Shelter from the storm of Africa
At the southern Italian port of Brindisi, I bought a map of Africa and set off on the trip of my life, which felt like a long-running Bob Dylan song.

Great valedictory at the end of a monumental innings. @TheRealPBarry has been a brave and brilliant host of Media Watch, a very Australian institution.

Unplugged from radio, I have big plans for retirement
This time next week, I’ll be a man of leisure. One who golfs, and reads the Odyssey.

It’s so hard to get that radio slot right. Sarah Mac did it, with the right mix of serious and humour, personal warmth and solid journalistic and news cred. Present of mind and equal to anyone she interviewed. Loved by her listeners. I too am baffled by the decision to sack her.
