I don't disagree with your overall argument. I do think of the great Conlon Nancarrow, though.

I wouldn't normally mention an obvious "I know what you mean" typo, but "H.R. Lovecraft" makes me think of an unholy combination of H.P. Lovecraft and H.R. Pufnstuf.

I use Startpage for most searches, with G**gle as a last resort. I was going to check out Kagi (a for-pay service that some smart friends used) until they started with the AI spiel as well.

Took me a second. The other sense of "drone" has me wondering what kind of ambient blues ol' Jeffrey Lee might've been able to cook up.

Jim's poem "To a Russian Friend" is in The James Sallis Reader: Point Blank and Black Night's Gonna Catch Me Here: New and Selected Poems. I have no idea whether either of those books are easily available but if anyone can find them, it's you.
