These quotes from Victory in Australia, The Remarkable Story of England’s Greatest Ashes Triumph 1954-55 by @rwhitehead2.bsky.social probably sum up England’s chances for the 2025-26 Ashes, just change Bedster for Atkinson.

Really enjoyed @atticalocke.bsky.social Black Water Rising - brought civil rights America, 80s political intrigue with and corporate oil money alive with a great thriller.

In Syd’s Voice with @deanbwilson.bsky.social is a cracking read about a cricketer who made a difference. The exploration of racism is outstanding. Maybe David Lawrence would have had a bigger impact as a fast bowler in a today’s environment. Definitely worth a read.

My first cricket book - Gordon Ross writes…
“The slow over rate has developed into brinksmanship and gamesmanship of the very worst order, depriving the spectator (who pays quite expensively for his cricket, these days) of his proper ration of entertainment”

As a perfect companion to my spring effort to climb all the Wainwrights I’ve been reading English Pastoral by @herdyshepherd.bsky.social It’s such an inspiring analysis and manifesto for the beautiful Lake District landscape and beyond.
