Emeritus Economics Prof. World traveller. Birdwatcher. 'Cynical liberal'.
There will be other constituencies that understand tactical voting. And the number will increase. A problem for this analysis is that many people are so disillusioned with Labour 's performance they wouldn't switch to Labour to 'stop Reform'.

Even voting for May's deal would have been an improvement. But Labour have always been ambivalent about the EU and it's predecessors. Shore taking his sandwiches to Brussels, Benn etc etc.

Labour as confused as ever on the subject of Europe. Electorate to take note.

A screw or two loose, methinks.

Maybe I'm naive, but isn't it the European countries that are accused of censorship by Trump's (Putin's) apparatchiks?
December 10, 2025 at 8:50 PM
Well, that'll certainly encourage tourism.

Relies on having hard data, which, as I understand it, are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain under Trump admin. See also e.g Russia in 1930s, Mao's Great Leap Forward. Etc.

Quite so. If Brexiteers had any idea of what economic deal they wanted after the vote, the period of uncertainty would have been less. But they didn't. Bootle, Jessop et al now getting desperate. And the NBER definition of 'Brexit uncertainty' is very precise - a more general one would persist.

Indeed he does.

Like the gag. But try any airport bookstall. There are no other books on sale there.

As I said, free-riding. For example, potential pipeline sabotage to Europe including Ireland is patrolled by UK & EU. Irish navy is either non-existent or out of commission. Nothing new: De Valera sent commiserations to Germany on Hitler's death.

Nor does it provide collective security although sheltering under NATO umbrella. It's called 'free riding'.

My point also :- he's not read widely enough in his sphere. No hope of course he'd read a basic economics textbook.
December 4, 2025 at 8:50 PM
Well there's certainly nothing to stop them in Ireland.
December 4, 2025 at 6:43 PM
Can't be from Ireland. After all, we know they are completely neutral on issues like Russia and Ukraine. And they have no military-style anything.
December 4, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Yes, notwithstanding Prof Miles, my economics & finance profession does sometimes reveal extremes of nerdiness.
December 4, 2025 at 5:23 PM
And economist.
December 4, 2025 at 5:15 PM
Frankly, this is a nonsense definition. If there is such a thing as obsessive 'neo-liberalism', it's about markets, not money. And do not confuse Keynes with MMT.

Earth is flat. The moon is merely a hole in the sky.

Question: are there any Reform members not posting offensive posts on X?
December 3, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Remove with people with glasses and ill-matching pullovers, I say.
