Received my first AI website critique for a new build today. That can be filed in the bin 🗑️

Laravel at scale is completely different beast 😅 Especially when picking up a legacy build with little idea how it pulls together… Making progress ⏳

Bitbucket.. You need to upgrade. $3.30 a month. Thanks for upgrading $16.60 a month. How’s that worked out 😅

Spent a good couple of hours trying to build a site with 2025 and full site editor. Got fed up and pulled a rough hybrid site together in an hour. FSE really does over complicate things so so hard to work with. Sure I could work with it. Just really feels like something that I won’t enjoy 🤷🏼‍♂️

Installed Laravel Herd and as expected it’s not as easy as the docs makes out 😂 Absolute tosh that it installs Imagick and it works out of the box 📦

Working on a cool little Laravel app which will mean the death of a legacy classic asp system that harks back to my college days. Amazing how far tech has progressed in (say quietly 20+ years). ps. How am I 40 this year? 🤯

Anyone ever got this working with local storage? I call bullshit on this chunk of documentation. laravel-livewire.com/docs/2.x/fil...

Been working my way through this laracasts.com/series/react.... Really great series but I’m still sticking with Vue 😅 Helps with custom block stuff though 💪

WordPress driving me insane today. Do we add this to my theme.json or to the css. Why can’t making websites get easier with time 😅🥲

Really enjoying pulling together custom blocks. Feel like its a nice solution for those elements/components that are specific to a site that you want rigid styles but flexibility to edit. Actually not that complicated? Toggle styles/visibility of stuff and away you go 🤷🏼‍♂️

Built my first custom block this afternoon 👌 Need to learn react then 😆 Who thought { test && showthis } was nice syntax I want vue 🥲

Made some more progress on this yesterday. Getting closer to launch. So hard with your own stuff. Really aiming for it be as easy to use as possible with minimal amount of options/choices 🙏

When you give client a text box instead of two… things like this happen. Might call myself the WordPress doctor. Taking shit themes and knocking them into shape 👨‍⚕️

One thing that annoys me with my front end stuff is that I’ve never truly nailed vertical spacing between elements always ends up a mess. Should I just use utility classes and be done with it or is there a better way 🤪
March 10, 2025 at 2:41 PM
Overheard today. I’m not sure why I’m using Canva your stuff is so much better I should be using you guys for more stuff 🤦🏻‍♂️

Got sign off on the rebuild of a legacy asp system today. Really can’t wait to get started! Proper busy at the minute Really enjoying myself after a tough few months 👌

Making progress on this. Only thing I can’t quite nail is the outline on complex images. Hopefully share more stuff now I’ve got OBS sorted for screen recording 🙏

Started work on another WordPress rebuild today. Say its again keep things simple…. Like using a require to include two lines of code absolutely unnecessary abstraction. How do people work like this 🤣🌊
March 3, 2025 at 10:23 PM
Going back to my talk in January. Keep it simple. Themify definitely does not tick this box. When you try and be everything to everyman. You can’t be simple. Not the way websites should work imo. End of rant.
