Decided to forgo our patch walk today with Claudia.I headed to Musselborough to catch up with the White-rumped Sandpiper.Mistake.Patch gold Spoonbill by the bridge at Aberlady,11am.I'm wondering how many days it will be before she stops telling me about it.🙄

Decent 50 species on Aberlady/Gullane patch this morning.
Highlights were pair of Greylag with 6 gosling on Peffer Burn, Yellowhammer and Tree Sparrow on Lufness mains farm and drake Garganey still on Marl Loch. Plus the usual symphony of skylark. #patchbirding #birdinglothian ##birdingscotland

Another braw day on the patch.
4 Sandwich Tern west, 2nd Swallow of the year on the point with Red-throated Diver and LTDs still. Scoters close in.
2 Wheater on the reserve.

Gullane to Gosford Bay walk. 50 species. Velvet and Common Scoter off the point, one legged Greenshank off Kilspindie, sleeping pair of Red-breasted Merganser at Gosford Bay. Sad to see another dead seal on Aberlady Bay. #PWC2025 #birdingscotland #birdingscotland

45 species.
Long-tailed duck and Common Scoter off the point. 7 Grey Partridge on Lufness Mains Farm. Grey Wagtail on Peffer Burn. Great black-backed Gulls enjoying the wind around Hummel Rocks. #seabirds #birdingscotland #birdinglothian

Last few days Gullane/Aberlady. Red-necked Grebe, Long- tailed duck and Common Scoter all really close in off Gullane Point. Water Rail heard at Marl Loch. Yellowhammer on Luffness mains Farm. Only downside was Harbour porpoise still on Aberlady Bay.

Gullane/Aberlady/Luffness walk. Quiet patch today. 36 sp. Usual solitary Bar-tailed Godwit on Gullane Bay, snipe on Aberlady LNR, dead seal pup on the bay at low tide, 40+ fieldfare over Gullane village. #birdingscotland #seabirds
