Finally finished this monster of a game. 65-70 hours. Lots of thoughts but they mostly boil down to: GREAT setup, they stuck the landing, but the last few chapters just went on and on and onnnn… Just JRPG things, I guess. 🙃

I love the Switch 2 and the Steam Deck, but there’s just something about having a pocket-sized portable gaming handheld, y’know?

Wiped and freshly modded PS Vita 2000. Booted up Persona 4: Dancing All Night to test the thing, and… couldn’t stop playing. 😅

I finally read it. Excuse me while I go curl up in the bathtub and cry myself to sleep. #booksky #sciencefiction #classicbooks

What a soulless, empty husk of a human. And company now, too, I guess.

Fresh in my mind? How about screaming helplessly while being crushed by the weight of my backlog? 😂

Love how the PS5 passive-aggressively scolds you even when the mains power goes out and it’s beyond your control.

Testing the new Bluesky Flashes app with some #streetphotography. I dig the portfolio feature. Time to ditch Instagram? It’s looking more and more likely.

So @afictionalescapist.bsky.social was right. My first words directly after finishing it were “wtf did I just read?” 🤣 No doubt we’ll have a discussion episode of the podcast about it. But ‘til then, my brain will be sprouting eyes and peering inwards at itself from within my skull.

Super excited to read this next month. The Archimedes Engine by Peter F. Hamilton, first book for the Exodus video game/universe/IP. I’m ALL IN. I mean, you kinda have to be with a big this thicc haha (well, I do. Big books are intimidating). #booksky

Second new book start today. Long time coming, but I want to get it read before I start EXODUS next month ‘cause that’s a 928-page brick. #booksky

In my quest to read more Japanese literature before my trip to Japan in March, I started reading Yukio Mishima’s Confessions of a Mask, and I think I’m in love. The prose (& translation!). The themes. The feels. I’ve not read Mishima before. He would have turned 100 this year. Fascinating individual.

That didn’t take long. Might even prioritise this one. Almost 1,000 pages. And I still have The Stand to start in February! I gotta rethink this…

Two books read for 2025 so far. I have a sneaking suspicion my end-of-year best-of lists are going to be veeeeerry difficult for 2025 (such a good problem to have).

I’ll inevitably slow down now because both the books I finished are ones I started last year. 😆

I didn't read a ton of books in 2024, but what I did read was epic! From Steinbeck's masterpiece that is East of Eden, to the mind**** that is the Area X books by @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social that we discussed on @genreblenderpodcast.com there really wasn't a lot I didn't enjoy or find some value in.

Just set up my #bulletjournal and #themesystem for 2025! Switched from an A6 Stalogy 365 to 2 new Bullet Journal Pocket editions. Next year is all about consistent reading, engaging more with what I read, writing, and travel.

Where are my stationery nerds at? 🤓

I promise the wrapping paper itself wasn’t the only thing we gifted them (though perhaps it should have been 🙄)

Latest mood read. My first Sally Rooney book.

Not that I used my Twitter account for years, but still… 2007 was a long time ago! Many of my early tweets were the literal interpretation of “What are you doing?” which was Twitter’s tagline in the early days. Hilarious to read old tweets like “eating a Vegemite sandwich” 🤣 Riveting stuff!

The one thing about being an adult that I like:

No-one gets to tell me when there are too many toppings on my froyo. Because there are never too many toppings on my froyo.

Cats are the *reason* we’re here. Hell, they’re the reason I still know what my own laugh sounds like. If not for their clowning, I think we’d all be sobbing into our cereal each morning, if we could even get out of bed at all.

When the book buying gets out of hand.

That is one gorgeous cover. Looking forward to sinking my teeth into it. And probably losing my mind over it. And maybe possibly constantly thinking about it for the next, oh you know, lifetime. #absolution #jeffvandermeer #books #tbr

Testing how images and alt text works on BlueSky, so here’s an obligatory photo of my cats, Krem (right) and Kasumi (left).

If you correctly guessed they’re named after characters from Dragon Age and Mass Effect, you win a cat cuddle! (travel not included, cannot be redeemed for cash).
