What's the size of the library in total?
Back in college, I passed around a 300gb hard drive we called the "community hard drive" and every added music. Eventually we curated an iTunes library file people could use with updated id3 tags.
Feels like that's where this is headed for shows/movies.

Dave, have you messed with Plex much? All this makes me think of Cuba back in the day when people passed around USB drives with new music/movies.
Oddly enough, the movie/show issue seems easier to solve than the music stuff. Streaming is convenient but my library of downloaded music is WEAK now.
