Chaos ensued in the second half though, with 5 more goals to come with Kasimpasa eventually winning 5-4. 9 goals yet not a single one of them had any quality it was hilarious. Also made funnier by one group having a go at one of their players, who then scores 30 seconds latter. Prime SüperLig

There were a smattering of away fans who were clearly stunned when they went down to 10 inside 7 minutes for literally no reason, then deciding to go 2-0 up, and were 3-1 up at the break. Not bad for the team second bottom in the league.

Game 3 of the trip came in the package of Kasimpaşa vs Hayatspor and boy were we in for a treat.

Mooched on Monday. For such a big city there wasn’t really much in the way of sights that we were overly bothered about seeing. So we just had some beers.

Got our tickets sorted and in we went. The noise was ridiculous and the strong number of away fans next to us really added to it. The game itself was ridiculous. With Göztepe going into the break 1-0 up and Fener looking so poor, the game turned and it was 3-1 by the 56th minute, finishing 3-2.

But Sunday night was the one I was most excited for. Fenerbahce vs Göztepe. The pre match build up was miles better than the previous night, with fans drinking in the many bars of Kadıköy

Had a few drinks after so got up late on Sunday and walked over to Besiktas’ stadium. Impressive arena set in a valley by the Bosphorus.

Missed a stadium tour so did the museum which wasn’t very exciting but I did give some money to the shop. And met more cats.

But that evening was for Galatasaray vs Konyaspor. Got the ticket the previous day (950TL/£21.80), went to the ticket office, showed our passports and we were given one-day Passolig cards.

The game itself was really poor. Lots of feigning injury. Atmosphere was decent though.

Saturday we got some overpriced breakfast from an all-female ran cafe (swings and roundabouts) before mooching around the Grand Bazar. Spoiler alert: Not that interesting. Lots of blokes fishing though.

Arrived late on Friday, got into town and scouted the beer situation. It was very good. Met a Cypriot Turk who was in town to cheat on his wife so that’s something. There was also a bloke with parrots. And cats.

I wasn’t even a fan of theirs until that. Didn’t think they were all that and now they’re one of my favourites
