Hey, where's conservative thought leader Tom Flanagan with a terrible take when the Danielle Smith needs him the least?

Schrödinger's Alberta:

Simultaneously the 'economic engine' of Canada, the strongest province with the highest incomes and lowest taxes, which draws people from all over (Alberta is Calling!™), and.... a horribly hard-done by province, which just scrapes by, constantly victimized by Ottawa. 🤔

Secondly, there’s this bit about Airdrie “waiting 20 years” for a hospital.

Brown has been mayor for 15 of those years.

& there have been several pushes to bring a hospital to Airdrie - including by small communities north and east of our city.

He’s been, at best, unenthusiastic about it.

Eventually, the “health coop” idea folded without much to show for the city’s investment.

But even well before that, Mayor Brown was going to bat for Kyne when his contract with AHS was not renewed in 2015; discoverairdrie.com/articles/ahs...

Seems a weird thing for a municipal leader to do?

Before they had even incorporated, the “coop” went to city council looking for seed money - and received a not-insignificant sum for that; www.airdriecityview.com/local-news/a...

As is the case now, municipalities aren’t responsible for health care.

A couple of things:

Mayor Brown and Dr. Julian Kyne - who now heads up One Health - have a history going back years. One would hazard to say that they’re friends.

Years ago, Dr. Kyne was behind a “Airdrie health cooperative” idea which wanted to build a “health park” in the city.

They were started in around 2010 or 2011, when he was first elected Mayor.

Perhaps not coincidentally, Calgary used to have a “Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast” for many years too, but the “mayor” part was dropped after 2010 for *some reason*….. 🤔😬

It isn’t even a full service hospital. :/

Not surprising considering how Mayor Brown and Dr. Kyne - who is now behind the One Health proposal - have been connected for a number of years. 🤔😕

Not terribly surprising, considering Mayor Brown and Dr. Kyne have been seemingly joined at the hip for years.
