You can also check in the adult nonfiction section for art books--period portraits are some excellent references for clothing. Getting deeper into it, reenactment sources are extremely in depth. Check out people like The Tudor Tailor, for example. They've made the stuff, so they have a ton of info.

Depending on the level you need, there are a lot of ways to go about this! I'd actually recommend a quick stop by your local library. They'll likely have "DK Eyewitness" books on things like Medieval Life, the Civil War, etc. depending on the time period you need. Those often include museum photos.
