22 years in south Texas, for the job. Left to New Mexico as soon as retirement hit. The entire time I was in Texas, only 2 governors, Rick Perry and Greg Abbott. Hell.

We also got “mad” at offenders, imposing more mandatory incarceration, reducing good-time credits, more determinate sentences, and reducing rehabilitative opportunities. We made policy decisions based on emotion, never a good idea.
