A dragon's thoughts on game development and games as an art form!
I still encounter a lot of people who don't know that all "Switch 2 edition" carts work on Switch 1 as well. Nintendo tried their best to clarify, but it is ultimately confusing to most. It's the black Gameboy carts all over again

I do find it funny they released a Switch 2 edition cart for Hades 2 as the only physical release. But at least it works on Switch 1 and 2. It would just feel weird to put a red cart in the Switch 1 though

I do agree that patenting any game mechanics is greedy and stifles game development at large!

I explained all of these, and you disregarded it. So I don't know if anything would change your mind. But I didn't lie about anything, you just didn't listen. Enjoy life dude

If you can present a single case of any of the consoles being bricked, go for it. Especially since this has been in the terms since 2006 for all console companies. And if that patent means what you say, then a thousand games would be sued for it and that hasn't happened. This is just fear bait, guy.

I'm not defending Nintendo or Pokemon or whoever. You can talk about all of their bad business practices and such as long as it's a real thing. Believing every poorly researched AI generated article isn't helping anything. Misinformation is a serious issue and allows real issues to be ignored
October 25, 2025 at 1:46 AM
And a couple stores removing sections is literally nothing new. But unless you can show more than 4 or 5 stores nationwide, then it's not an issue
October 25, 2025 at 1:44 AM
You're also showing literally 1 page of a 70 page patent. The patent isn't for a single mechanic, but of all the systems working together in specific conditions. Patents have to be very very specific. You can't just patent a single mechanic with one page. But if you wanna ignore the other 60 pages

Nintendo claim said they will remove online services if you break their terms, they legally couldn't remotely brick your console and has never done so. There are zero cases of it happening. And Sony and Microsoft and Steam all have the same legal notices in their terms.

Claiming Pokemon is $100 because of dlc, then all games are like $100+ because of dlc. And every major company has been guilty of it for 3 console generations.

Hey look, it's all the misinformation I was talking about. Let's break this down:

While true the context wasn't exactly right, he did mean it for the most part. I'm not a fan of a subscription based future at all
October 25, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Yeaaaaaah, I can't speak on other region pricing, but I've known they're absurd for a good long while
October 25, 2025 at 1:29 AM
Game freak honestly just need to hire way more people. They've still operating on the small 200 employees they've been using for 20 years
October 25, 2025 at 1:27 AM
Real talk, dropping the National Dex was probably a good thing. It's genuinely impossible to expect Game Freak to endlessly include 1000+ Pokemon models and animations every game. They're barely managing the 400 or so in each Switch game. If it was another studio maybe, but not Game Freak lol
October 25, 2025 at 1:26 AM
But it's easier to believe that the patent wasn't 70+ pages long, and the terms was just Nintendo being mean, instead of something that's been included on all game consoles for 20 years
October 22, 2025 at 4:52 AM
And the info about rendering a system inoperable is a legal holdover that all game consoles have in their terms since the 360/PS3/Wii era. It's literally stating if you fuck up your system by messing up with modifications, the future console updates may not work properly and you might break the OS
October 22, 2025 at 4:50 AM
Nope, the Pokemon patent was literally just the various battle systems in Legends ZA, and how the Pokemon align themselves to your trainer in realtime to angle their attacks and so on. You can't just patent something so broad as "summoning creatures", that's legal nonsense.

It almost looks like the animation isn't loaded on it yet since it's so far away. Plant T-posing
