I'm taking part in the Push Up Challenge this month to raise funds for mental health! Especially in the BC interior there is a real lack of access to resources for such services! If you're able we would love your support www.thepushupchallenge.ca/fundraiser/r...

Listening to this right now! It's a great listen if you haven't read/listened already!

Looks like I'm taking a job in Victoria, BC! Which is to say, if you're in Victoria and know of anyone looking for roommates and/or a rental for March 1 let me know! TIA!

It's been a minute since I've printed a paper! Excited to read this one though! Maybe this is the answer to my career path queries!

This is only 4/6 muleys that were in the yard this morning! I shooed them away like cows 😅 deer around town can be aggressive to dogs so I try to shoo them before I let Findlay out!

If you were going to buy just one book on #wildlifehealth out of the ones below, which would you pick?! Or is there another one I'm missing...

What were you doing in May Rhiannon? Stress leave! 🤣

One of the things that prompted my renewed interest in wildlife health was photos like this that we got off our camera traps! Ungulates in seemingly poor/skinny body condition even after full green up! So I started to investigate 🧵

Oh Findlay is doing great! I kept him and he is the centre of my world, I have no other responsibilities so it's just me and Fin! Here he is sleeping on the couch!

Also if you haven't go and read this piece by my friends!!! I note that it says Cesar is a candidate but he passed his PhD! The link is here! conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... and I can't figure out how to tag people!

If you haven't listened to/read this by @jennifergrenz.bsky.social yet I highly encourage it! I sent it to my Parks+ fellowship group chat while listening to Ch 9... so many amazing learnings and so much that resonates as a Black woman scientist!

The Forest Practices Board published a report last year that speaks to the issues with monitoring and allocation at a provincial scale for rangelands! www.bcfpb.ca/release-publ...

Some of this loss is due to encroachment from conifers into grasslands! BUT conifers aren't all bad, areas of the East Kootenays would have historically been ponderosa pine savannah! Conifers and their canopy cover provide important snow interception on ungulate winter ranges!

Reading this as my winter reading project! I so wish we'd had better training in vegetation ecology and agrology as undergrads!

Do you know any courses on range science/plant ID that are available online that you'd recommend?! #interdisciplinary #mammology #range #ungulates

People like to blame recreation for poor rangeland health... is it part of the picture? Sure! But how much of an impact it has also depends on the state of the landscape to begin with! Healthy rangelands are more resilient to disturbance! 1/2
