We go for a walk most days at Balmore Park in Reading. It's lovely. There's a small wood, a meadow, areas left wild, as well as a big mown grassy area. I was stopped in my tracks last night as the sun shone through the trees, intensely red & gold. & yes, that is a tree swing. A perfect spot for it.

I spent the afternoon at the National Gallery and found myself drawn to the painting of the oysters. I find it fascinating how food is depicted in art and the insight it offers into every day life at that time. So I had fun searching for more of this while I wandered around..

Spring flowers are so joyous & there a few trees I get particularly excited to see bloom each year. One is this very short tree in the local park which has the most extraordinarily wide & abundant canopy of blossoms. I like to crouch underneath & watch the industrious bees making the most of it

Currently re-reading What She Ate, which was a very well-chosen gift & a book I highly recommend if you're interested in food history, women's history, etc. I enjoyed her chapter so much that I'm now reading my 1st Barbara Pym & loving it. I keep realising I'm smiling to myself while reading
