An independent commission to reform adult social care is bittersweet. We welcome strong advocacy. But a report in 2028 is some way off. We need the commission to move at pace, to capture the quick wins and – crucially – work in partnership with us on a journey of continuous social care reform.

Already over-stretched disability charities are heading into a very difficult financial year.

For our group of charities it is set to cost £266m.

We need HM Treasury to fund it or reconsider the tax exemptions that apply to other areas of public service.
