I always found it ironic that the song “I Got a Name,” all about self identity, and one of the songs most associated with him, was one of the few songs on all his albums that he didn’t write!

His “I Got a Name” album is one of three I have framed and hanging on my bedroom wall, alongside John Denver’s “Poems, Prayers & Promises” and James Taylor’s “Sweet Baby James.”

I’ll always regret that of all my favorite singer/songwriters in the 70s (Denver, Simon, Chapin, Taylor, Stevens, Browne, Fogelberg), he was the only one I never got to see. But back in my coffeehouse performing days, I made sure that his songs were always a central part of my set list.

I saw them June 15, 1980 at Giants Stadium. Almost 45 years ago, and that was enough.

Between this and their DEI policy, Costco’s really giving me no choice but to become a member even though as a single guy, I have no use for a pack of 40 rolls of toilet paper.

I just wish she’d stop with “We have to sneak in a break.” No, they’re regular sized breaks, she HAS to take them, they’re not sneaking up on her, and it’s tiresome to hear.

Was in 3rd grade in elementary school in Santa Maria, CA. Remember it vividly. Was on the monkey bars at lunch recess. My 1st grade brother ran out to tell me that the president had been, and I quote, “shot in the woods by a German sniper.”
