Albert Dietrich was a close friend of Johannes Brahms, and greatly influenced by him. An anonymous piano trio unearthed in the 1920s and attributed to Brahms later turned out to be by Dietrich. Airing one of his orchestral works. #ClassicalSunrise Listen at wtju.net and charlottesvilleclassical.org

#ClassicalSunrise How could someone so talented be so completely forgotten? Georg Heinrich Backofen was a virtuoso clarinetist, composer, harpist, flutist, and painter! Airing his clarinet concertos from 1809.

#ClassicalSunrise Airing a bassoon sonata by French composer Francois Devienne. In the late 1790s Devienne was professor of flute at the Paris Conservatory (but obviously was familiar with other members of the wind family).
