War means horror. (#OTD in 1941, battleship HMS Barham (off the coast of Egypt) was hit by three torpedoes from U-331, capsised and exploded, killing 862 men. Amazingly, around 487 personnel were rescued. #WW2 #HISTORY)

Meet the Fairey Firefly (was unknown to me). A carrier-borne fighter and anti-submarine aircraft. Introduced in 1943 and produced until 1955. 1,702 were made. #WW2 #HISTORY

I think the man on the right is Captain Grant Allen Singer from 10 Royal Hussars, who captured General von Thoma, commanding the Afrika Corps, on 4 November 1942. Captain Singer was killed the next day. #WW2 #HISTORY
