Lord of the Rings: War in the North

A straightforward, co-op able hack & slash, set during the events of the first book/film. You'll meet characters, and visit locations not touched upon in the films, all voice acted too. Take your brain out, accept it for what it is & have some LOTR themed fun.

My slow ass finally finished the Silver Templar Infernus squad I've been painting for months. Admittedly I did stop to completely redecorate the office. #warhammer40k #warhammercommunity #spacemarines

Ori and the Blind Forest

A very good platformer that doesn't always play to it's strengths. Combat feels like it was bolted on & out of placed. The high pressure escape sequences are where the platforming truly shines. Beautiful in visuals and audio. So much unfulfilled potential sadly.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus

As with most Warhammer games, this is a turn based tactics game from the perspective of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Sound design was great, music/ambience was not. Weapons seemed a little bit redundant beyond 2/3 choices. CPU tactics never evolved making this rather easy.

Mafia Definitive Edition

Whilst it's open world, this isn't GTA. It has a decent story & it's well voice acted for a start. For a game that is remastered, it looks pretty damn good, the city feels alive & missions are engaging. Again, not a sandbox really but it's probably better for it.

Dredge

Lovecraftian horror fishing game, chock full with exploration, rpg elements & a compelling narrative. Piloting the fishing boat is fun, more so after upgrading the engines & the fishing/dredging aspect is easy enough. If you like completing checklists, hoo boy... some intense moments too

Final Fantasy VIII

Playing this when it was release, vs re-playing it now is a whole different vibe. Whilst the story, world & characters all hold up fairly well, mechanically & graphically FFVIII comes up short. All the shouting might be about IX getting a remake, but frankly VIII needs it more.

FAR: Lone Sails

Short indie-game that is melancholic but beautiful. Incredibly chill puzzle game with a light soundtrack, with a dusting of 'puzzles'. Not groundbreaking by any stretch, but wonderfully relaxing to play.

Yakuza Kiwami

Textbook Yakuza insanity, from 90s action storylines, RPG-lite systems and organised crime to rhythm game karaoke. Kiwami is technically a remake of the first game of the series & the naivety of some things still comes through that remake process. Lots of fun, combat can be janky.

Blue Prince

OK, so this is a 'I've rolled credits' rather than 'completed the game' because, holy shit does this game just add layer, upon layer as you explore. There's lore & backstory going on, there's puzzles, there's logical planning & some big time gambling of outcomes. Incredible.

Finally got around to applying the transfers to the first Infernus Marine & think I can say this is now finished. Rest of the squad can follow quickly now I know what I'm doing with them. #wh40k #warhammer #spacemarines #warhammercommunity #SilverTemplars

Suikoden II (remaster)

Still a shining example of a great JRPG story, some moments are still shocking. Great characters, a sprawling world that builds upon what the first game laid the foundations of. Sprite work & music is immaculate. A genuine, all-time great JRPG.

I think this is the route a lot of business will take, they'll just re-focus their efforts elsewhere whilst this idiocy goes on

Mark of the Ninja (Remastered)

A patriarch of the stealth-'em-up genre, the original released in 2012 & debuts a number of mechanics that are prevalent to this day. This is not a game about running, slashing & reacting. This is about deliberate, methodical approaches, & the patience required.

Suikoden 1: Gate Rune War (HD Remaster)

Say what you will about Konami, but this remaster has been done exceptionally well. It needed to be. One of the best JRPG's of all time still hits it out of the park. A glorious soundtrack, smart combat system & some very memorable characters.

Little Nightmares

Peculiar puzzle game that incorporates some psychological 'horror'. Not sure the horror part works all that well, but the puzzles are engaging enough & the unique aesthetic is quite nice/nasty to look at. Some surprising moments, but some may find it a touch slow or simplistic.
