I'm going to build a stationary garden protecting robot. Solar powered with battery. Wifi and a camera. Plus a motion sensor and noise emitter. Some ability to make abrupt motion.

Bad things come in threes:
1. Chip (8 pin) installed backwards
2. Inputs to said chip swapped
3. Wrong SPI mode
Fab error, design error, software error
All good now 🙂

Got some boards back from fab on Tuesday. One rail didn't come up to voltage. Took me until Friday to find the culprit. Chip installed backwards. Orientation marking was not as shown in the data sheet:

I'm about to release a 6 layer, 3"x3" board to fab. I always get nervous. What mistakes did I miss? In my entire career, I've had 3 perfect PCBs. I call them gems 💎.

So, I learned something recently. If you use a RF (or optical) detection diode that produces an output proportional to the input power (not input amplitude) and then measure the output - you need 2X the dBs on the observed output to cover X dBs of the sugnal input.

I just like seeing what others are up to who have similar interests. I used to be really impressed with my Twitter feed, pre Musk. I'm starting to get that impression with Bluesky. I hope it succeeds.

There should be a way to make photos appear as thumbnails until you click one. I prefer a more compact format.
