Likely be a bit more comfortable. He's too reckless for his quartermaster's taste, and he's too imperious to set the deckhands at ease. But his loudly aloof personality gives him the air of authority and mystery a captain truly needs.

When William was young, he spent his time at the docks. He told stories at a man named Edward all the way onto his ship. Before William really noticed what was happening, the ship took up anchor and sailed off. William has been talking the ears off the Faithful crew ever since.
