TIL that Clip Studio has an option to set the perspective rulers/guides for a scene to match whatever angle you have an existing model/character/scene object in, so you can freehand stuff on other layers and it'll match up neatly. :D

Devouring a crystal to turn into a giant dragon so you can fly to the end of the universe, punch a hole through spacetime, call the living embodiment of entropy a bitch to its face and then smack-talk your rival for having not killed it yet is about as Big Dick Energy as you can get.

So yeah it was technically cheaper, but only in the sense that they didn't have to pay the workers an actually competitive rate - and the 3D animators, being in a brand new field and desperate for any work to ensure their futures, pretty much had no choice but to take it.

Fun (not) fact - the shift from 2D to 3D animation didn't happen because 3D was cheaper to produce (anybody who's done both can tell you they're both a lotta fucken work), it happened because 3D animators weren't unionized yet so the studios could be dickwads about their contracts more easily.

And then have a second algorithm 'double check' it, and at no point take any time to go over it themselves to ensure the information's been collected or collated accurately.

So, like... double-slop.

Yknow, I never thought I'd applaud anything Disney did at a corporate level given how reliably terribly they apparently treat their staff (both studio and theme park), but as an artist I am cackling like a harpy at the Disney lawyers being set on that 'AI' bullshit.
