I did that process for that and the brick wall. With lots of painting over. Otherwise everything else is a combo of lasso tool, a soft round brush, and a “harder” slightly elliptical brush!

So normally for textures like denim I’ll find a flat, front facing basic texture online (and likely buy it from adobe stock if I don’t already have it in my texture library), make it black and white, warp transform over the form, lower the opacity and then likely make it an overlay layer
