Someone on E Broad in Church Hill had these on two large dog statues on their front porch.

Possibly the heat will be tolerable at JamPacked this year.

Having a statue of Elizabeth Van Lew would be good. Since she lived in Church Hill, Libby Park would be a good location.

I saw one of these pass by Tredegar a few years ago. Spent nuclear fuel.

Interesting article.

Libby Hill was named for Luther Libby, a Richmond merchant. He had a large warehouse in Shockoe, which was seized by the CSA for a prison for Union officers. He owned slaves in his Church Hill home, and placed an ad in the Richmond Dispatch in 1862 for a 14 year old runaway female slave.

The Lee statue was originally built to be installed in Libby Park. The soldiers and sailors obelisk was substituted in Libby when plans were changed to move Lee to Monument Ave. (Obelisk subsequently removed).

Just some RVA trivia.

(Ask me about the name Libby.)

Written in 1935: a phoney populist wins the presidency. In fact, he is a useful idiot for other interests. He becomes a dictator. Congress is reduced to sycophantic rubber stamping and the Supreme Court is simply ignored. It can’t happen here.

Good song. I also like an old song that Alison Krauss sings called Richmond on the James.
