We would go on Christmas Eve each year. As a child you'd see the lyrics in the program and think "They're going to sing each of these lines once and then I get to go home to presents, right?...RIGHT?" But remembering her, absolutely enthralled by the performance, still wears a soft spot on my heart.

Hard agree. My Oma dragged her unruly grandchildren to the orchestra every year in the late 80s/early 90s. It took a decade for me to understand what she was getting at.
