Sam is lying down on the couch, with the rat child asleep on his chest. He notices its stomach grumbling and goes to fix it something to eat. While preparing some unidentifiable cut of chicken, he zones out for a moment, remembering the time Leigh fed the rat child her blood. He stops suddenly, staring at the knife in his hand. He looks at his reflection in the blade for a moment before flipping it around and placing his thumb along the edge, cutting to a wince as the rat child suddenly looks up with concern. Sam approaches the rat child and kneels down, offering it his bloody thumb. It excitedly lunges at him and clamps down with its second pair of jaws, painfully. After the initial shock, though, Sam smiles, cradling the creature in his arms as he lets it drink.
