If that’s what you’re doing, then it’s blasphemy and taking the Lord’s name in vain. “When you have done it for the least of these, you have done it for me.”

You can’t pray for an end to abortion but then cut off education, prenatal care, and birth control. You can’t pray for an end to genocide and not speak out against it.

You can’t pray for the mentally ill but then cut off mental health support and resources. You can’t pray for the sick to be healed but then make it more expensive and difficult to get healthcare and prescriptions.

“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.” Matthew 15:8-9 NIV

Do unto others. But what do I know 🤷‍♂️

Maybe what he really meant was that it’s OKAY as long as someone you don’t like is also lying, cheating, stealing, and bullying (or you just assume they are because someone said so on Fox News).

Maybe I misunderstood when Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount or spoke about turning the other cheek.

Been thinking a lot about these verses lately. Jesus would be so ashamed of those who claim his name and then talk about and treat fellow humans so terribly — immigrants, people of color, and the LQBTQ community. Some of y’all treat your pets better than humans created in the image of God. 

Everyone should be able to feel safe and have the opportunity to flourish. If you think otherwise then we probably shouldn’t be friends.

What we do have is ignorance, agendas, misinformation, and a lack of communication and willingness to listen and understand.
