And don't get me started on being neurodivergent. I wasn't put in an asylum, but I always thought my struggles were a matter of poor character rather than how my brain worked differently.

I knew I didn't fit the gender binary sixty years ago. I just didn't have the language to explain it, and lived for many decades feeling alone.

I am opposed to ableism, no matter who it's directed at. But that could have been a compliment.
