These are such great ideas. A few years ago our family lived on the equivalent of snap benefits for lent and we donated the difference to hunger ministries at the end of lent. That was a meaningful one.

lol, thats a no on reconciliation. Preaching Luke and Psalm 37, and talking about how love is a verb-- when we love someone we expect more of them, not less. We are actively engaged in their growth and repentance.

My uncle Billy (and yes, he was every stereotype you can imagine of a good ole boy from South Carolina) used to say he had fractions on his fingers. The way he told the story, he skipped church a couple Sundays, and God rewarded him with easier math.

-and finally, for our government, those elected by the people, that they might remember (and be reminded) that their charge is to work FOR the people, not against them, and not on their own behalf.

-for illegal immigrants who are being abused and whose rights are being violated in order to score political points.
-for those whose comfort makes it easy for them to ignore, or dismiss, or rationalize what is happening in the US.

-for the many victims of violence around the world and here at home--children and families who are displaced by the machinations of war in Israel and Palestine, in Ukraine and Russia, in Somalia and Syria and Sudan and Haiti.
