I actually had a hunch this would be the case so when they announced they were halting production of new units I snagged a new 3ds xl for about 70 dollars. Best decision ever

I didn't know about this subreddit, thanks for the link! And yeah, the 3ds is super underpowered. Everyone complains the switch is a potato, but it's a monster compared to this thing lol.

ooh I didn't know about pokemon elysium, I'll have to take a look later! I actually completed pokemon volt white on my 3ds a couple years ago, it was the perfect use case for it.

Speaking of PS1, I think I tried running suikoden II on it and it did not run well lol. So definitely some limits

I completely forgot the 3ds had an IR blaster! Too bad I don't have anything to use it on nowadays though lol. I mostly used mine as an emulation machine, very convenient

I did really enjoy the 3ds games' online features! Though think my favorite was gen 7's battle tree especially if you had a friend to do doubles with, might have been the most fun casual pokemon had been for me

yeah I used netpass for a bit, it's fun but it does lack the magic a little lol

I honestly still take it sometimes because the switch is less convenient but yeah😔
