A repentant Christian nationalist who left too late. Repairing the damage and helping build a better world for my grandson. I voted for Jimmy Carter b/c he was the candidate most like Jesus, then gave my heart to the GOP, but I’m back to my First Love.
Would reporters please be more accurate about what’s happening here? The Trump administration’s stylized “Department of War” is lethally attacking human beings, not “boats.” The objective is not to destroy boats, which could be done at docks, en masse. They are killing people. Unaccountable killing.

If ever we needed the young, brave, brilliant fascist-resister Dietrich Bonhoeffer, it is now. See what I have to say about him here: www.patreon.com/posts/140004...

Jesus Christ: “Love your enemy.”

Donald Trump: “I hate my opponent.”

The two statements are diametric opposites.

The implications are innumerable and the consequences of each are enormous.

Following Christ leads one away from Trump.

Following Trump leads one away from Christ.

So much for my MAGA conversation partners to process, these days. Not just that Trump orders an American business (not China) to “eat the tariffs,” but that he wants dirty coal-burning power plants for the US, but sleek state-of-the-art AI server plants for the Gulf States. Hmm . . .

In the age of Trump: There is something every one of us can do to “petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” (See First Amendment to the Constitution.) Write the President, your Congressional delegations, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and demand they correct wrongs—often!

America is NOW one of those countries where hooded federal agents snatch people off streets and “disappear” them. This Mom of three kids does not know where her husband and their dad is, or if he’s even alive. The Republicans are now a terror regime. It’s unlawful, unethical, and intolerable.

Trusk propagandist Sean Hannity in a jaw-droppingly obtuse moment of unMusk empathy for Tesla employees in the wake of sagging sales and stock values: “Look what’s going to happen to the workers at Tesla, the salespeople, the people on the line that are going to lose their job.”

Grew up on the border between the U.S. & #Canada, I appreciate the similarities and differences between our countries. Fell in love early with #Canadian culture. As an adult, I did a preaching tour from the Maritimes to BC. Kills me we’re now antagonistic toward this good neighbor. #Trump is unwell.

If your name is Green and you’re a White blond-haired and blue-eyed gal in a faux boa, you can shout down a prez. If your name is Green and you’re Black with slicked-back hair and a cane, you get censured. That’s the way arbitrary rule works in a fascist government.

Fellow “Bible Christians,” you voted for it: Prez T’ump has declared that if you’re a family who came on foot with no money, GO BACK! If you’re a “rich man” (Mat 19:24) with your own big plane, here’s your GOLD ENTRY TICKET—skip the lines and com’on in, but be sure to stop in Palm Beach first.

My last exchange with him was just before the ‘17 inauguration when I said, “You’ll need to find your moral courage now.” He lowered his head and eyes. I never saw him raise them again.

After claiming credit for what isn’t his, D-J T will quickly be reminded that governing—domestically and internationally—isn’t as simple or fun as his campaign reality show . . .

As Christians celebrate Epiphany today, let us remember that glorious moment occurred while a narcissistic autocrat sought to violently overthrow “peace on earth and goodwill toward humanity.” As electoral college ballots are counted today at the Capitol, let us not forget how history instructs.

Plenty of people will see the deeply flawed Bonhoeffer film this week. It will renew the question of whether we are in a “Bonhoeffer moment.” I say, yes, but not in the way it’s typically interpreted. That’s why my new resistance community is reading #Bonhoeffer together, anew. PM me to join.

I think one of the best things my fellow evangelicals can do to begin our long recovery from the MAGA heresy is read Ethics by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Seeing fictionalized versions of him in an entertaining movie isn’t enough. Read deep and wide—like he did. Read his Ethics—twice—just as a start.
