Dentist in a small Oregon town. Probably thinking about fly fishing.

Former social scientist for defense clients. Some of you may remember me from such places as Uzbekistan, Leavenworth, or MacDill.

I listened to that last week on a long drive. It was great!

Granted my life in practice has been COVID and its aftermath. But I've seen this kind of shit metastasize on the right, especially among patients who are on Facebook when I walk in the operatory.

I think social media encourages a one-upsmanship in healthcare skepticism like it does in racism. Patients that I've heard the craziest stuff like this from are very low trust and code or are obviously right wing. It's a kind of virtue signaling. Doubting the most basic shit makes you savvier.

I swear this is going to lead to one or more of my patients demanding hydrocodone, which I almost never prescribe, because the dumb reality distortion field they subscribe to tells them ibuprofen is useless.

I've even seen it happen with colleagues regarding acetaminophen.

One of my favorite things in my late 80s childhood was buying candy cigarettes and chew at the convenience store. Keep that homemade desserts crap.

Opening seats doesn't change anything about the quality of graduates if the rest of the education stays the same. Plenty of less competitive applicants end up doing fine.

The alternative to meeting this need is already happening and it's generally far worse.

I see you have met my aunt.

There's a rich body of historical research on this in the form of late night man on the street interviews.

We recently had a right wing freak out about a trans student in our high school. One of our county commissioners said this same thing. People have a right to not have groups of people around.
