You can say it’s bad, I think it’s a step too far to say “anyone who would consider the alternative in this hypothetical is demonstrating they fundamentally don’t value the autonomy of their real life loved ones”.

Loss is an incredibly painful, intimate experience that everyone experiences differently. I don’t feel the need to judge someone for having the “wrong answer” to an entirely hypothetical fantasy thought experiment.

Just look how many examples there are under the “replacement goldfish” tvtrope page. I don’t think it makes one selfish or callous
