A few Manx people who would really like some investment in cycle routes and active travel 🇮🇲
Cycling to work this morning under clear skies, with the moon rising in the east and Jupiter setting in the west i was musing on how today's post should be something poetic.

Then….

Would be nice to see IOM Govt commit ANYTHING to cycling infrastructure….

🇮🇲🚲
Whilst the UK government is reported to be planning to cap the Cycle to Work Scheme, the Dutch government commits €1 billion to cycling infrastructure to connect new homes.

It is part of a €2.5 billion package to create roads, cycle paths, tunnels and tram lines to residential areas

I understand the IOM Govt 🇮🇲 is a bit short of money.

“One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss”

We therefore expect to see all our elected representatives in favour of real investment in cycle infrastructure.

Copenhagen, the bicycle-friendliest place on the planet, publishes a biannual Bicycle Account, and buried in its pages is a rather astonishing fact.

Good to see the Sea Terminal bike racks getting plenty of use.

Though no one seems to have told the riders that no one wants to cycle in the winter….

Autumnal views through West Baldwin from one of our supporters’ commutes last week

Sure beats staring at car exhausts from inside a metal box….

If you build it, people will come!
Why do we want it?

- It’s the cheapest, most efficient form of transport
- It’s the best travel infrastructure investment you can make:
- It’s better for road safety
- It’s better for physical health
- It’s better for mental health
- It’s better for the environment

- It’s fun.

It’s time for a Revolution!

Who are we?

Just some Manx people who want….
What do we want?

It’s high time the Island invested in dedicated cycle infrastructure that is;
- separated and protected from cars
- end to end, networked, and
- facilitated with whole community support
