If you’re not aware of the implications of the word “blitz”—from the German Blitzkrieg (“lightning war”)—pause. It recalls WWII strategies of overwhelming force used to subdue populations. Its casual use for an act of government against a U.S. city today should alarm us.

What do I do? I converse with my neighbor, marvel at the night sky, and find joy in my daughter’s handstand. My job is just one part of a much larger story. We are more than our jobs—even when they bring us joy and meaning. True freedom comes when we remember we’re made to flourish in every moment.
