it's also worth remembering that your own language is not unencumbered by ambiguity, that the words you use are also polysemous and subject to disparate interpretation, and the appropriate response to this isn't a brittle rigidity, but curiosity and refinement.

eventually, you come to accept this not as evidence of the "deceitfulness" of "neurotypical" communication (a self-flattering interpretation if there ever was one) but as something actually kind of beautiful, poetic, elegant.

i too once thought that there were social "scripts" that i was missing, until i eventually came to accept the terrifying reality that language and communication are innately ambiguous, that my desire to find certainty and stability in this world was a serious impediment to understanding it.

in that janet malcolm book she’ll say stuff like “not every picture is a photograph” and it’s made me 10x more pretentious and annoying

it still feels like there’s a bit of redundancy but it’s nice to be able to experiment with a lot of constraints. once i get some of them fixed i’m gonna sell a couple off (probably the canon p&s and the TLR) to simplify and focus a bit

i have a k1000, a yashica-mat 124g, a hasselblad 553elx (a gift from an ex, i couldn’t afford it on my own lol), the samurai half-frame, and the canon p&s, which were both gifts. i use all of them frequently — i take a lot more pictures than i post

i need to print my shit in a darkroom and start stapling it to surfaces outside

even my 35mm flatbed-scanned negatives lose enough detail when i post them on here that i sometimes feel like the point of the image is a little lost. and stuff i make with my hasselblad forget it
