Bats need out help! Between shrinking habitats, a fatal disease called White-nose syndrome that was discovered in 2006 threatens more than 10 bats species in North America alone. This includes two already endangered species.

When in flight bats hearts can reach a heart rate of 1000 beats per minute. Some bat species can eat up to 1,200 mosquitoes an hour during their nightly hunts which is understandable when you think about how hard their little hearts are working.

Blind as a bat? Not so much… Bats eyes are adapted for the nocturnal life. They are small and can see well at night. However, sight is just one sense a bat relies on. Some bats, like most fruit bats, also use their noses to sniff out nearby treats.
