Voted PB cause it's my favorite piece of art in the known universe. Will not be upset with the 3 Feet High triumph, even though De La Soul has several better albums IMO. Both groundbreaking works, and two sides of a very specific coin that interests people of my very specific pocket of Gen X.

My exact experience. We taped Yo! MTV Raps every Saturday morning and watch it all week. This song was an outlier, but so funky in a way Hip Hop hadn't figured out yet. The album was an immediate purchase. Today's match is between foundatial records for me.

Immediate purchase. It was never not a classic. Encountering people who didn't get it right off the bat was disorienting when Check Your Head dropped.
