Last week, our doctoral research associate Goran Stanić visited the University of Naples Federico II, where he gave a guest lecture entitled "Franciscans and coexistence during the Bosnian war in the 1990s" in the class "Ethnic conflicts and national integrations in Modern and Contemporary History".

📜Interimperial persons appear in unexpected places. A plaque in Warsaw commemorates Francis II Rákóczi, the Hungarian noble who rebelled against the Habsburgs and died in exile in Ottoman domains.

Imperial capitals often harbour neglected legacies. In London, Jeremy found this trace of diplomatic relations between the UK and the Republic of Texas, which lasted between 1836 and 1846 before being absorbed into the USA as a proslavery southern state in the context of the Abolitionist movement.
